McGregor Foundation, CHN Housing Partners and Mayor Brubaker Break Ground on McGregor Landing

McGregor Landing will provide 115 affordable homes for Elyria’s seniors

The McGregor Foundation and CHN Housing Partners (CHN) were joined by Mayor Brubaker, funders, partners and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of McGregor Landing today. McGregor Landing is a senior independent-living building that will provide 115 seniors with an affordable and safe home.

“McGregor is proud to partner with CHN and other partners to bring McGregor Landing to life, creating 115 affordable apartments that will expand housing choice for residents of Lorain County,” said Ann Conn, The McGregor Foundation president and CEO. “This project reflects our commitment to supporting older adults with access to safe, affordable living connected to meaningful services and community resources—helping residents live with greater independence, dignity and peace of mind.”

McGregor Landing marks the third collaboration between The McGregor Foundation and CHN. McGregor Senior Assisted Living, a 90-unit building providing affordable and market-rate apartments for seniors, was completed in 2019. McGregor Senior Independent Living, completed in 2023, preserved 26 existing units and created 80 new units of affordable apartments for seniors.

McGregor Landing is the first development by The McGregor Foundation and CHN outside McGregor’s East Cleveland Campus. It will be built adjacent to McGregor’s new Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Clinic at 570 Leona Street. Eligible McGregor Landing residents will be supported by services offered through the PACE Clinic.

"We are proud to partner with The McGregor Foundation again to bring affordable and high-quality homes for seniors in Elyria, and we are grateful to OHFA, the City of Elyria and our partners and funders for their support,” said Kevin Nowak, CHN’s president and CEO. “Building McGregor Landing next to the PACE facility ensures Elyria’s seniors will have access to the comprehensive services that allow them to age with safety and dignity, something every senior deserves.”

A $36 million investment in Elyria, McGregor Landing is primarily funded by the Ohio Low Income Housing Tax Credit and a 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credit award from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency. Additional funding is provided by The McGregor Foundation, Enterprise Community Partners, Monarch Private Capital, RiverHills Bank, Citizens Bank, the Nord Family Foundation and the Community Foundation of Lorain County. The Lorain Port Authority will provide a capital lease for the development.

“In Elyria, we are dedicated to ensuring our seniors can age with dignity, safety and affordability,” said Mayor Kevin Brubaker. “Affordable housing for seniors is a huge need, and McGregor Landing is the answer to that need. I am grateful to all the funders and partners who have worked so hard to bring McGregor Landing to the point it is today.”

McGregor Landing will span approximately 95,000 square feet over three stories. Building amenities will include a community room, a community kitchen, laundry facilities, community lounge, outdoor patios and two elevators. All units are reserved for adults 55 and older making 60% of the area median income (AMI) or less.

McGregor Landing meets the ongoing need for affordable, quality housing where seniors can live with dignity. The 2026 Fiscal Year Housing Needs Assessment from OHFA found that 13% of Ohioans aged 55 and older spend at least 50% of their income on housing. Through McGregor and CHN’s partnership, residents will have access to safe, affordable housing and services that will help them age safely while maintaining their autonomy.

Construction on McGregor Landing is expected to be completed in the fall of 2027. Applications will open in June 2027 and interested seniors can join the waiting list by calling (216) 851-8200.
