Construction Begins on Carrick Senior Apartments
The building will provide 52-units to Pittsburgh's seniors

On Tuesday, October 27, CHN Housing Partners (CHN) joined Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O'Connor, City Councilman Anthony Coghill, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Amani Christan CDC, City Councilperson Bob Charland, State Senator John Costa, State Representative Jess Behnham and members of the community to kick off construction on Carrick Senior Apartments. Carrick Senior Apartments is a 52-unit development that will provide affordable housing to seniors ages 62 and older living with disabilities.
Located at 2531 Brownsville Road, the site of the blighted Berg Place Apartments, Carrick Senior will repurpose the lot with the vacant building into new, high-quality apartments. Demolition on Berg Place Apartments began yesterday and is expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
Carrick Senior will be comprised of 47 one-bedroom apartments and five two-bedroom units. Supportive services will be provided on-site. Building and unit amenities include on-site laundry, community room, community kitchen and lounge, dishwashers in each unit, free internet, and several lounges for residents to socialize. The building is affordable, for residents earning 20% to 80% of the area median income.

The $24 million investment in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh is made possible by a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA). Additional funders include First National Bank, Grow America, The Urban Redevelopment Authority, the Housing Authority of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Bridgeway Capital and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
CHN Housing Partners and Amani Christian Development Corporation are co-owners and co-developers. Mosites Construction Company is serving as the general contractor, and Rothschild Doyno Collaborative are the architects. Construction will begin following demolition.
