The Westerly Apartments is a 3-building, 454-unit senior housing complex in Lakewood, Ohio with 25% of those units being rent assisted for very low-income residents. Built in the 1960s, Westerly Apartments was Ohio’s first HUD Section 202 project. The preservation of Westerly Apartments provided new mechanical systems, more durable finishes, and more accessible apartment layouts. The renovation of Westerly Apartments meets Enterprise Green Communities Standards as well as the National Park Service Standards for Historic Preservation.
The renovation of Westerly Apartments was funded by Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, Ohio Capital Finance Corporation, Ohio Capital Impact Corporation, KeyBank, Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, Forest City Capital Corp., U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, National Park Service, and Cuyahoga County. Hiti, DiFrancesco and Siebold, Inc. served as the architect while both Snavely Construction, Inc. and Mistick Construction were contractors.
