International Village fulfills a neighborhood’s dream and provides safe, stable affordable housing for community newcomers.
International Village, formerly called Dream Neighborhood, provides 22-unit scattered site, 3-bedroom single family homes for residents. The project is part of Metro West Community Development Organization’s larger revitalization plan, “International Village: The Dream Neighborhood,” that seeks to enhance a community that benefits and aides the transition of newcomers into the City of Cleveland, including immigrants, refugees and Spanish speaking migrants.
The homes are centered around Thomas Jefferson International Newcomers Academy, a CMSD school serving 955 international students who represent over 30 international languages. Students develop language and academic skills before transferring into local Cleveland schools.
CHN will develop and manage the homes using its nationally recognized Lease Purchase Model, a 15-year pathway to home ownership. CHN’s Lease Purchase Program has helped over 1,000 families take title to their homes. Additionally, through intense financial counseling the program has helped residents decrease derogatory debt by over $1,000,000. Through the program, International Village residents will work with certified financial and home ownership counselors to achieve their home ownership and financial goals, leading to long term stability in all areas of life.
