Renter Supports

Detroit Shoreway Lawn Ave

Are you at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability?

Are you moving into a unit within the City of Cleveland? CHN may have funding available that can be used towards a security deposit and/or up to 3 months of future rent payments.

*Please note, the COVID-19 Rental Assistance program is no longer available. This is a new program for Cleveland residents and those moving into the City.

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible, applicants:

  • Must be City of Cleveland residents or moving to a unit in Cleveland.
  • Household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). See chart below.
  • Must be at risk of housing instability and/or homelessness due to an increase in monthly rent payments, eviction, termination of lease, or relocation from housing deemed unsafe and/or unsanitary.

This program is first-come, first-served and priority is given based on criteria such as eviction status, accurate information and complete documentation. If you qualify for additional rental assistance programs, you may be required to attend more in-depth financial counseling, provided by CHN, as a condition for payment of the rental assistance.

Please note, this program can only provide funding for a security deposit and/or up to 3 months of future rent payments. Back rent is not covered.

What assistance is available?

We will assist you in finding housing, paying your security deposit, and/or up to 3 months of future rent payments at a new unit.
