CHN offers financial and homeownership classes on a variety of topics. Attend free, instructor-led financial literacy and homebuyer education classes virtually through CHN!

We have multiple options for financial literacy and homebuyer education to help meet your busy schedule.  

Can't make our classes? Self-paced homebuyer education is available through Framework for a fee.

Homebuyer Basics Class

Interested in buying a home but unsure where to start? Sign-up for CHN’s Homebuyer Basics course! 

During this free introductory class, our HUD-certified counselor will provide an overview of the homebuying process, including (but not limited to): improving your finances and getting mortgage-ready, the key players you’ll meet/work with, and researching financing options and first-time homebuyer programs. You will also learn about local resources and programs to help you in your homeownership journey and have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. 

Note: No certificate is issued upon completion of this class.

We’ll explore how mindset, habits, and emotions around money can either fuel or frustrate your progress—and how to make your budget work for you, not against you.

Credit impacts more than just loans—it’s a reflection of your financial story. This session breaks down how credit works, what affects your score, and how to build or repair it with confidence. We’ll also explore the emotional weight of credit challenges and how to make empowered decisions about your financial reputation.

Debt doesn’t have to define you. In this class, we’ll talk about tracking what you owe, choosing the best payoff strategy (like snowball or avalanche), understanding bankruptcy, and recognizing the difference between good and bad debt. We'll also unpack the emotional pressure debt brings and how to rise above it with hope and a plan.

Saving is more than putting money away—it’s about preparing for opportunities. Discover how to start strong with saving, stay consistent, and build toward your future. You’ll also learn how to invest in yourself as a form of savings and explore the beliefs that may be holding you back from putting your future first.

Dreams without plans stay dreams. Learn how to set clear, achievable financial goals using the SMART framework—and how to stay motivated when life gets hard. We'll also talk about the emotional and mindset blocks that keep us stuck, and how to break through with intentional steps and accountability.

CHN’s Homebuyer Education course is an 8-hour series that is geared towards households that are actively in the homebuying process. This free, instructor-led series is designed to meet HUD and National Industry Standards for Homebuyer Education and provides the tools and knowledge necessary for long-term homeownership. 

Note: This course fulfills education requirements for HUD-approved down payment assistance and first-time homebuyer programs. Upon completion of the 4-part series, you will receive a Homebuyer Education certificate (valid for one year from course completion date). 

Unable to make these sessions? We also offer self-paced education and counseling through the Framework online homebuyer education platform (fee-based service).
