The Lotus (Cuyahoga TAY)

Portfolio of Projects

The Lotus Exterior

The Lotus offers safe and stable, affordable housing for homeless young adults aged 18-24, along with services to support their goals.

The three-story building consists of 50 units, including 38 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom units, three of which are wheelchair accessible and one is audio/visual accessible, all designed to meet LEED Silver standards.

Building amenities include a training kitchen to support life skills development, indoor and outdoor play areas to provide safe places to play, a computer room to support residents’ educational and employment efforts, property management and service spaces on the first floor and additional private counseling spaces on the upper floors. Outdoor amenities include a resident garden area, fitness space, on-site secured parking lot and an outdoor seating area.

The project is funded mainly through the use of Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). Other financing includes City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County HOME funds, Cuyahoga County ARPA funds, OHFA HDAP funds, an Affordable Housing Program (AHP) loan from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, philanthropic contributions and project-based rental subsidy.

The Lotus closed financing in spring 2023 and completed construction in 2024.
