May 17, 2019– We are pleased to share with you that two CHN developments were awarded tax credits today by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA)–Southwest Detroit Shoreway Homes in Cleveland and Santee Landing in Wadsworth. A tax credit award is the first essential step in funding a low-income housing development. We are incredibly grateful to OHFA for making these developments possible.
Southwest Detroit Shoreway Homes is a 30-unit, scattered site, single-family development for low-income families. CHN will work with Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization to build the homes on vacant lots formerly held by the City or County land banks in the Detroit Shoreway and Cudell neighborhoods on Cleveland’s west side. CHN will be the general contractor, owner and property manager. City Architecture will design the homes.
Santee Landing is a 45-unit apartment building in Wadsworth, Ohio. The concept for this development emerged from a county-wide collaboration to develop housing in tandem with, and in support of, economic growth. It will be located near employers and house low- and moderate-income working families in an area of high opportunity. The park-like setting, high performing Wadsworth schools and proximity to downtown Wadsworth will make this project well suited for families. CHN will develop the project in partnership with the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority (MMHA), which will own and manage the homes. Stathos Construction will build the Santee Landing, and TC Architects will design it.
Lastly, we congratulate Councilman Michael Polensek for the tax credit award for Longfellow School, which is slated to be transformed into affordable housing for seniors. We are so pleased that this important project is moving forward in the Collinwood neighborhood.
