JANET REED JAMES

Janet Reed-James

Chief Human Resources Officer

As Chief Human Resources Officer at CHN, Janet plays a critical role in driving the “Human Capital” needs of CHN employees so that they, in turn, can provide the best possible service to the community and to clients. Janet is responsible for developing strategy, programs and processes that support the growth and talent of the 250-person staff. Notably, Janet navigated the complex staffing challenges that arose during the pandemic, launching a rental assistance program that required the hire of 40 employees in one month. The $100 million program ultimately provided 30,000 families with emergency rental assistance, keeping them safely and stably housed. Under Janet’s purview, the organization has grown from a staff of 165 to 250 and the company has expanded to three markets.  A seasoned human resources leader, Janet has proven experience in financial, real estate and retail institutions. Most recently, she served as Senior Human Resource Business Partner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, where she advised the bank’s senior officers in areas including talent management, succession planning, performance management, diversity and inclusion and employee engagement. Prior to the Federal Reserve Bank, Janet was the Director of Human Resources at Forest City Enterprises which was named as a Top Place to Work in Northeast Ohio for three consecutive years. Prior to Forest City, she worked for Progressive Insurance, Cole Vision and National City Bank.

Janet holds a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
