Creating Homeowners in Detroit Since 2017

In 2016, CHN began exploring a partnership with Cinnaire to bring their lease-purchase housing model to Detroit, starting with 188 single-family homes. This sparked collaboration with nonprofits, city officials and other stakeholders to better understand Detroit’s housing landscape. By 2018, CHN had established a local office and began working with 188 lease purchase residents to prepare them for homeownership. Our involvement deepened as we contributed to Detroit’s Preservation Action Plan and partnered with the City to shape its single-family housing preservation strategy. CHN’s Detroit journey reflects a commitment to affordable housing and economic mobility.

The Detroit Housing Network

The Detroit Housing Network (DHN) is a coalition of housing service providers that have come together to provide clear and equitable access to housing services in Detroit. Our collective mission is to create healthy neighborhoods and advance racial equity in our communities by increasing housing stability and affordable homeownership for Detroit residents.

As Network Manager, we work with DHN Members to develop and maintain shared infrastructure, workflows and technology that Network Members use to serve Detroiters every day.  In collaboration with the City of Detroit, CHN and DHN Members work with Detroit’s housing ecosystem to advocate for accessible housing services and convene the right partners to design and implement them.
