CHN's Detroit Impact
Our Detroit-based team collaborates with Detroit’s public, private and philanthropic housing service providers to create impactful and equitable housing systems that address the housing needs of Detroit residents. We believe that a permanent address has the power to spark generational wealth and economic mobility.

The Detroit Housing Network
The Detroit Housing Network (DHN) is a coalition of housing service providers that have come together to provide clear and equitable access to housing services in Detroit. Our collective mission is to create healthy neighborhoods and advance racial equity in our communities by increasing housing stability and affordable homeownership for Detroit residents.
As Network Manager, we work with DHN Members to develop and maintain shared infrastructure, workflows and technology that Network Members use to serve Detroiters every day. In collaboration with the City of Detroit, CHN and DHN Members work with Detroit’s housing ecosystem to advocate for accessible housing services and convene the right partners to design and implement them.

Affordable Housing Development
As one of the nation’s most seasoned affordable housing developers that leverages the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), we collaborate with local community development organizations to increase Detroit’s stock of affordable housing.
Orchard Village Apartments
Co-developed by CHN Housing Partners and Detroit Blight Busters, Orchard Village Apartments is an affordable apartment complex that will bring 48 units of affordable housing to the Old Redford Neighborhood. All units will be two-bedroom apartments leased at 30 – 60% AMI. Construction for Orchard Village will begin in Summer 2023 and completed in Fall 2024.

Property Management
We work with local affordable housing developers to maintain a safe and secure living environment for over 121 units and families. Our Detroit-based team is available night and day for families who need support with their units.

Single Family Preservation and Lease Purchase
We work with local landlords to preserve and repair Detroit’s stock of affordable housing. By facilitating capital improvements, coordinating resource sharing across organizations and co-designing new home repair programs, we are working with Detroit’s housing ecosystem to address a crucial need for safe and secure affordable housing.
We also work with local affordable housing developers to create new homeowners by converting their LIHTC units across the City. By supporting residents with financial counseling and down payment assistance, CHN has so far helped over 67 renters become new homeowners.
