We are proud to announce that the Commons at West Village, a collaboration between CHN Housing Partners and EDEN, Inc., has received the President’s Award from the National Development Council.
This $13 million project is funded through Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) with investment from Key Community Development Corporation, and supported through funds from the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, State of Ohio, Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh’s Affordable Housing Program, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the local Continuum of Care and a grant from Home Depot.
Located in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood, the Commons is part of Cuyahoga County’s Housing First Initiative. CHN joined the initiative shortly after in was convened in 2003 by the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland in partnership with Enterprise Community Partners and the Cleveland/Cuyahoga County Office of Homeless Services. Today, over 17 organizations, including FrontLine Service and Care Alliance Health Center, work together to bring the permanent supportive housing model to Cuyahoga County. Since the first Housing First building opened in 2006, our region has reduced long-term homelessness by nearly 90 percent.
