Feb. 9, 2022 — On Feb. 5, 2022, CHN teamed up with Enterprise Community Partners, KeyBank, and St. Ignatius High School to host Super Refund Saturday. Volunteers from CHN, KeyBank and other organizations prepared and filed federal, state and city taxes for 98 individuals and families. Volunteers were able to secure $203,820 in federal refunds and $23,024 in state refunds for those who filed.
Each year, thousands of eligible Americans leave money behind by not claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Many of these taxpayers do not know about the EITC or if they qualify. Super Refund Saturday helps individuals navigate the tax process so they can claim their full refund.
This year, CHN and partners were able to claim $56,749 for filers in the EITC refund. As their taxes were filed, people shared with us what they plan to do with their refunds in the coming year. From paying rent and bills to investing, money from the EITC will have a positive impact on people’s lives.
We are grateful to all 38 KeyBank volunteers for their help in making this day a success.
